"Mum if I die, would you use this photo?"
Written from the Grief Journal of Heather Kerridge, following the death of her 14-year-old son Rowen.
- What is it like for a family, when a child dies?
- How does grief affect your marriage, your faith, your relationships?
- Do you ever come to peace?
- This story is profoundly personal, yet describing many emotions felt universally, by parents whose child has died.
Every parent’s grief journey will be different.
This is one person’s story, likened to a devastating storm.
It begins with the shock of diagnosis. The Storm Threatens.
It describes the day of our son’s death. The Storm Hits.
It gives an account of how we faced the storm. Aftermath.
It concludes with a sense of hope. Hint of a Rainbow.
'The Storm' is a deeply personal account of my grief journey, taken from my diary, following the death of my son Rowen. The book's subtitle is 'Mum, if I die, would you use this photo?' This was the question Rowen asked me, following his diagnosis of a potentially fatal heart condition. It is the photo that is on the cover of 'The Storm'.
The Storm describes how we as a family, began to learn ways to live a meaningful life without our son. It was a deeply challenging journey, but there were many beautiful people and events that helped us on the way.
This book gives insights and a deeper understanding for bereaved parents and for those who desire to help them.
